This is the verification checklist for a TikTok purchase — the specific things to look at, in the order that decides whether an account is worth anything. The transfer mechanics are covered in the companion guide.
Almost everything here is checkable from the public profile before you ever message the seller, which makes TikTok unusual and works in your favour.
Check These Before Contacting the Seller
The last twenty videos and their view counts. This is the whole valuation in one step. What the account currently reaches is what you are buying. Follower count is history.
The date of the most recent post. Dormancy destroys distribution faster on TikTok than on any other platform. An account quiet for months is a rebuild, not a running asset.
View distribution. Are views consistent, or is the average carried by one or two outliers? An account with nineteen videos at 2,000 views and one at 4 million has a viral hit, not an audience.
Comment quality. Read them. Real audiences reference the specific video. Purchased engagement produces generic praise repeated across unrelated posts.
Niche coherence. Scroll the grid. Content built around one subject has an audience the algorithm understands. A grid of unrelated topics means diffuse distribution that is hard to inherit.
Follower-to-view ratio on recent posts. Views far below follower count means the audience was bought, has churned, or has stopped being served.
If any of these fail, you have saved yourself a conversation.
What to Ask the Seller
Analytics, by screen recording rather than screenshots. Ask them to open the analytics panel and change the date range while recording. You want to see follower growth over time, traffic sources, and audience geography.
The follower growth curve. A vertical step is purchased growth. Organic growth is uneven but continuous.
Audience geography against content language. A mismatch is the second signature of purchased followers, and it also matters commercially — monetisation and sponsorship rates vary enormously by region.
Whether the account has ever been restricted. Ask directly, and ask them to show account status.
How long they have held it. An account passed through several hands has several people who have seen its recovery details.
Whether monetisation is active, and in which region. Do not accept a claim; ask to see it.
The Questions That Reveal the Real Risk
"What did you post in the last month, and what did those videos reach?" A seller who is active knows this instantly.
"Why does the reach differ from the follower count?" If reach is low, there is a reason, and how they answer tells you whether they understand their own account.
"Is the audience here for you, or for the subject?" Face-led accounts do not transfer. The audience followed a person, and that person is leaving.
What to Discount Heavily
Followers with no corresponding reach. Long dormancy. A grid of unrelated content. Growth spikes with no content explanation. Any account whose appeal is one recurring presenter. And accounts where the seller cannot produce analytics at all — that is a handle purchase, and should be priced as one.
What Genuinely Holds Value
Consistent recent reach. A defined niche the algorithm serves reliably. Content that does not depend on a specific face. An audience in a region where the content can be monetised. And an account that has been posting continuously, because continuity is what sustains distribution here.
Before You Confirm Receipt
Once you have taken over: revoke sessions, disconnect linked Google, Facebook and Apple logins, change email and phone, and set up your own 2FA. Only then confirm — confirming releases funds and ends your protection, and a linked social login left in place is a route straight back in for the previous holder.
Verifying Analytics Without Being Deceived
Analytics screenshots are the least reliable evidence in this market, and they are the evidence sellers offer first.
Insist on continuous screen recording. A single unbroken recording that moves from the profile, into settings, into analytics, and through several date ranges is difficult to fabricate. A folder of cropped images is trivial to fabricate.
Ask for a date range you choose. A seller who can show you any period on request is showing you a real account. One who can only produce the specific ranges already prepared is showing you prepared images.
Ask them to do something live. A small, harmless action performed while recording, such as opening a specific settings page you name, establishes that the person recording actually has access. Prepared footage cannot respond to a request made after it was filmed.
Cross-check what you can see publicly. View counts and post dates are visible without any access at all. If the analytics do not match what the public profile shows, the analytics are not from that account.
Negotiating From Evidence Rather Than Opinion
Once you have verified the numbers, the negotiation becomes straightforward, because you are no longer arguing about whose impression is right.
- Quote the median, not the seller's figure. "Your last twenty videos average this many views, and that is what I am pricing" is a position that is hard to argue with, because it is arithmetic rather than opinion.
- Name the specific discounts. Dormancy, niche drift, and unverifiable monetisation are each separately priceable. Listing them individually is more persuasive than a single lower number with no explanation.
- Do not negotiate the escrow arrangement. Price is negotiable; how the money moves is not. A seller willing to discuss the former and not the latter is behaving normally. One who wants to renegotiate the latter is telling you something.
- Be willing to walk away. There is always another account. The buyers who lose money in this market are almost always the ones who had already decided to buy before they finished checking.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many recent videos should I look at? Twenty is enough to see the pattern and to distinguish consistent reach from one outlier.
Is a dormant account with high followers worth buying? Only as a handle with an audience that may partially reactivate. Price it well below an active account with the same follower count.
Can I detect purchased followers without analytics? Often yes. The follower-to-view relationship on recent public posts and the comment quality are both visible without any cooperation from the seller.
Does reach recover after a sale? Sometimes, if you maintain the posting pattern and content style. Abrupt changes are what most reliably reset it.
How much should monetisation add to the price? Less than sellers claim, because eligibility is tied to region and identity and may not survive a transfer. Verify it exists before paying anything for it.
